ABOUT ME

I am a healthcare innovation and policy consultant committed to improving the quality and accessibility of care through data-driven strategies. With a Master's in Healthcare Management from Oregon Health and Science University and over a decade of experience in navigating healthcare regulations, policy development, project management, and solving some of the industri’s biggest challenges for providers like recruitment and retention. I thrive in dynamic, environments that require creative problem-solving and strategic thinking.

As the Senior Director of Compliance and Policy Development at CareAcademy, I led teams through regulatory changes and workforce development initiatives. From providing guidance and leadership toward best practices in unregulated care spaces to the nuances of Medicare and Medicaid, I specialized in big-picture strategy shaped by the myriad minutia innate to healthcare. I’ve spearheaded projects that include building scalable databases, securing critical accreditations, and establishing partnerships enabling vocational training to transition into higher education credits. A notable achievement was leading the $1.5M CalGrows grant application, ensuring its approval and successful implementation. My work emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and adaptability to stay ahead of the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

My prior experience at Planar Systems honed my project management and event coordination skills. I managed the construction of corporate showrooms, executed large-scale events like installing digital displays at TEDxPortland, and organized the Video Wallapalooza roadshow, achieving record-breaking attendance despite limited budgets.

Earlier in my career at the Institute for Professional Care Education, I developed compliance programs and solutions, tailored training programs, and expanded market reach through innovation. These roles solidified my expertise in regulatory management and established my reputation as a strategic thinker and effective executor.

I closely track and influence policy perspectives to better support the life and career needs of care providers to optimize their career development opportunities. I’ve observed that workforce health is a critical feature in the care continuum. It affects an employer’s ability to recruit and retain top talent, and it affects the care quality for people to age with autonomy and dignity.

outside of work

I enjoy the spacious landscapes of the California desert where I deploy my love of the natural environment to shape and restore our yard and ecosystem. I’m usually accompanied by my mutt, Tecopa, who enjoys watching critters while I stack rocks and plant cacti. Indoors, I experiment in the kitchen where I’m usually observed by “Bad Kitty” Kevin who’s napping or awaiting his next meal. I enjoy all of this with my husband, Joe, who has a penchant for low-cost luxury travel, so when we’re not at home, we’re enjoying the journey somewhere else where we can acquaint ourselves with new cultures and perspectives. I’m a voracious reader consuming non-fiction in pursuit of my professional mission as well as fiction. I find inspiration among my favorite authors including but not limited to Ursula K. Le Guin, Octavia Butler, and Kim Stanley Robinson.

At my core

I value integrity, collaboration, and adaptability. I am passionate about making a meaningful impact on healthcare by driving innovation, fostering connections, and enabling better outcomes for care providers and recipients alike. I embrace curiosity and creativity in all aspects of my life. I am energized by working with people to build, execute, and adapt to change.

My mission is to build and renovate the healthcare system to make a meaningful and positive impact on the care continuum.
